Declaration of Self Competence

Public health service delivery is now well established in pharmacy. CPPE have a wide range of learning programmes and assessments for each of the services, which will help you assure and maintain your competence. The Declaration of competence (DoC) system has been developed to support you in assuring commissioners that you are service-ready and have the appropriate knowledge, skills and behaviours to deliver high-quality, consistent services. Many commissioners are now including the DoC system in their service specifications, service level agreements and patient group directions. For relevant services that require accreditation Public Health Suffolk will be using Declaration of Competence. PharmOutcomes automatically links with the CPPE database, once permission is given, to confirm your accreditation record and enables you to deliver services. declaration-of-competence

All Pharmacists Providing Sexual Health Services Must Have a Valid DBS Certificate

Suffolk County Council (SCC) is responsible for safeguarding vulnerable children and adults and is committed to making sure that all of its staff, and staff who work for commissioned services, are suitably qualified to work with people of all ages. More specifically, pharmacists who provide commissioned sexual health services (i.e. emergency hormonal contraception and chlamydia treatment) must have a valid enhanced DBS check according to the terms set out in their contracts.

PharmOutcomes has been updated so that when logging on to provide these services, there will be a section to complete to indicate if the pharmacist has a valid DBS check. If the pharmacist can comply immediately, the certificate number and expiry can be entered into PharmOutcomes. If the pharmacist does not have a valid check, they will have to obtain a DBS certificate before they can provide commissioned sexual health services.

If you require any further information then please contact info@suffolklpc.org.uk.
