Locally Commissioned Services

Public Health Contract: Public Health Suffolk

Public Health Contract: Public Health Suffolk; Locally commissioned services. Pharmacy owners (contractors) can choose whether they wish to provide these.

The contracts for Public Health Services are reviewed annually. Suffolk County Council has taken the decision to extend the current contracts for a further 12 months.  This means you will need to reconfirm your intention to continue with each service you provide.

Please sign up to the contract extension and the service(s) you wish to provide by completing the Public Health Services 2022/23 Contract Extension Sign Up template on PharmOutcomes. Sign up is now closed to local services. If you wish to provide a local service and have not yet signed up please email Admin.publichealthsuffolk@suffolk.gov.uk  explaining which service your pharmacy wish to provide and they will make arrangements to open the template in Pharmoutcomes for your pharmacy. They will also respond to any other service enquiry you may have promptly.

Please note:

Substance Misuse services require a separate sign up on PharmOutcomes for their 5 yearly contract.

The NHS Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (contract) consists of three levels of services:  Essential services, Advanced services and Enhanced. Pharmacy owners (contractors) must provide Essential services, but they can choose whether they wish to provide Advanced and Enhanced services.

Pilot National Services are also being launched, pharmacies will be invited to provide them.

We have produced a useful Community Pharmacy Suffolk Service summary 2023-24 Final (DEC 2023) which summarises the requirements, with associated links, for all the locally commissioned or delivered pharmacy services in Suffolk.

Declaration of Competence

Public health service delivery is now well established in pharmacy. CPPE have a wide range of learning programmes and assessments for each of the services, which will help you assure and maintain your competence. The Declaration of Competence (DoC) system has been developed to support you in assuring commissioners that you are service-ready and have the appropriate knowledge, skills and behaviours to deliver high-quality, consistent services. Many commissioners are now including the DoC system in their service specifications, service level agreements and patient group directions.

For all relevant services where the accreditation is required, Public Health Suffolk will be using Declaration of Competence. PharmOutcomes automatically links with the CPPE database when you give permission, to confirm your accreditation record and enables you to deliver services.

You will find all you need to know about Declaration Of Competence here www.cppe.ac.uk/doc
