GP CPCS

Most GP Surgeries in Suffolk are live with referrals into the CPCS. The LPC is working with system partners across SNEE ICS to ensure the roll out goes smoothly and to support pharmacies with any issues.

For further information on the local delivery of this service please see the information from the  GP CPCS Annex F Webinars Feb March 2021 incl DMS held by Suffolk and Norfolk LPC. It is advised that pharmacies who did not attend one of the events watch the webinar and then read all of the information below. If after completing all of these actions you have any questions please contact your LPC team.

All relevant members of staff will need to read the briefing materials on the LPC GP CPCS website page to fulfil Annex F requirements.

The PSNC GP-CPCS Action plan gives you a list you can go through, with the necessary documents in readiness for referrals, including the service spec, GP CPCS Toolkit, an overview of how the service will work and information on making your claims.

Going Live

Closer to the go live dates GP staff and relevant pharmacies will be sent information to explain the process prior to going live.

GP CPCS referrals will come into pharmacies via NHS premises email accounts.

Please be aware that the Ardens template does not indicate in the email subject line GP CPCS, so you may miss the referral. This issue has been raised by the LPC and advised that no alteration to the tile can be made.

You may wish to set up forwarding emails from Shared NHS Mailbox to Personal NHS Email, a guide on this is given HERE.

In order to complete a referral, you will need to transfer the information from the NHS email to your provider pay option of choice, all interventions have to be recorded (if using PharmOutcomes, the GP CPCS Minor Illness nhs.net consultation template is where you will record the service provision). You will find this on the left-hand side of your PharmOutcomes provide services options.

If you are struggling to deliver the service at any point it’s important to feedback to your local GP surgery and the LPC via info@suffolklpc.org.uk

Claims for Payment for this Service

All payments must then be claimed via the NHSBSA Manage Your Service (MYS) portal; no paper-based claims process is available for the service.

Claims should be made monthly, via the MYS portal and/or the CPCS IT system (where this functionality is available). Contractors should confirm with their CPCS IT system provider whether they will need to submit a manual payment claim via the MYS portal, or whether the CPCS IT system will create a month end collated activity report/payment claim for their approval prior to it being submitted to the NHSBSA.

Claims will be accepted by the NHSBSA within six months of completion of a referral, in accordance with the usual Drug Tariff claims process. Later claims will not be processed.

General Practice Resources

NHSE&I have produced a GP-CPCS-slide-deck-for-use-with-PCNs-and-practices that is useful to explain the referral journey, conditions suitable for referral and how GP practice teams can make a referral.

PSNC has also developed an animation and infographic to help describe the GP referral pathway into the CPCS for GP use.
