Clinical Waste Collection

Returned Patient Medicines From All Pharmacies & Sharps Waste from COVID Vaccination sites

With effect from 6th December 2021, Anenta Ltd is now managing the contracts for returned medicines from community pharmacies on behalf of NHSE and I. In addition, they will also provide support to those community pharmacies who are providing the Covid vaccination service which for community pharmacies will include queries in relation to sharps waste which is not part of the business as usual clinical waste service contract. You will continue to get collections from your current waste contractor, however all queries related to waste management must now go to Anenta.

This includes:

  • Additional bin requests
  • Change in frequency
  • Ad hoc collections
  • Additional items

Pharmacy details have now all been uploaded centrally at the request of East LPCs, however, there is still a requirement for pharmacies to confirm their email address via this link which was provided within the Gateway message that went out. This forms part of a validation check to ensure the email address is correct and will then give you access to the relevant support functions.

If you have any issues registering your email or your require any other support please email support@anenta.com or call 03301 222 143.

Anenta have also sent via Gateway on 3rd August, Anenta Reminder Comms East of England, please do us the link to register so they can support you and manage the clinical waste provision on behalf of NHS England (East).

NB: Anenta will not be responsible for collecting the waste from Community Pharmacy and GP sites as this will remain the function of your existing provider for example Stericycle, PHS.
