Elections for the New Committee of Community Pharmacy Norfolk & Suffolk

As you will know, in 2023 pharmacy Contractors in Norfolk and Suffolk voted overwhelmingly in favour of the merger of the Norfolk and Suffolk LPCs to form one organisation: Norfolk & Suffolk LPC, also to be known as Community Pharmacy Norfolk & Suffolk.

This new organisation will take office on 1st April 2024. We will therefore start the process of election/appointment of the Members of the new LPC in January 2024.

Having assessed the Contractor composition across the whole area with regard to Company Chemist Association (CCA), Association of Independent Multiple Pharmacies (AIMp) and Independent status, our constitution will require the new Committee of 12 Members to be comprised of:

5 Members appointed by the CCA.

1 Member appointed by AIMp and

6 Members from Independents, assuming that the CCA and AIMp fill their allocated places.

Requirements of and Commitment from Members

Irrespective of Contractor type represented, it is clear that the merger reduces the total number of LPC Members across Norfolk and Suffolk compared to the existing arrangements. As such it will become even more vital that the Members that do sit on the new Committee are able to commit fully to active and proactive participation in the workings of the LPC. Our Contractors deserve no less.

A basic guide to being an LPC Member can be found here: LPC-new-members-guide-2017-2.pdf (cpe.org.uk)

We would politely request that all those considering seeking to continue as an LPC Member, or that are considering expressing an interest in joining the new committee, read the above and satisfy themselves they feel able to commit fully to the role.

Elections for the 6 independent Member Places

In early January 2024 we contacted all our independent pharmacies (i.e. all those who are not CCA or full AIMp members) seeking nominations for Membership and thence following the process as described in sections 9-15 of the following national guidance: LPC-Elections-Guidance-2023.pdf (cpe.org.uk). If you are interested in coming forward to be an Independent Member, please read this guidance carefully to understand the process.

Thank you.
